Titanum Grade 5 is the most common and widely used titanium alloy of the alpha-plus-beta class. The combination of excellent strength, low weight and great corrosion resistance, allows for numerous applications. it is suitable for use at temperatures up to 400°C and is easy to forge, form and weld.
Ti6Al4V material is one of the most widely used titanium alloy. According to the ASTM standard, titanium grade 5 is designed for use in industrial applications. For example, ASTM B265 specifies, among other things, the chemical composition and mechanical values for titanium grade 5 flat material, while ASTM B348 deals with the requirements for 3.7165 round material.
The 3.7164 variant is specified for aerospace applications and is subject to the requirements of the AMS standards.
Titanum Grade 5 is used in aerospace, medical, and other applications where good strength, low weight, and favorable corrosion properties are required. Examples are Aircraft engine intake housings, compressor blades, disks, hubs and spacers, airframe components, offshore oil and gas equipment, power generation industry, motorsport/automotive components, consumer products, medical and chemical process equipment.
